Introduction

Hoppo is a browser-based interactive game for children ages 5–8. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect (and what we do not), how we use it, and how we protect the privacy of the children and families who use our service. We are committed to full compliance with applicable privacy laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect personal information from children. Specifically:

• No accounts or user registration are required.
• We do not ask children for their age, email address, or contact information.
• The optional "What should we call you?" nickname is stored only on the device (in localStorage) and is never sent to us.
• We do not use behavioral advertising, tracking cookies, or third-party tracking pixels.

Camera and Video Data

Hoppo uses the device camera to track body and hand movements for gameplay. All video processing is performed entirely on-device using MediaPipe machine learning models that run directly in the browser.

• Video frames are never transmitted, stored, or uploaded to any server.
• No images or video ever leave the device.
• No recordings are made at any time.
• Camera access is controlled by the browser and can be revoked at any time through browser or device settings.

Because all processing is local, a parent or guardian's granting of camera permission within the browser is the only action required. We receive nothing from that permission grant.

Local Storage

Game progress, settings, and preferences are stored in the browser's localStorage on the user's device. This game data is not uploaded to our servers (anonymous analytics events are described below). Users can clear it at any time through their browser settings (typically under Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data or Site data).

Error Logging

If the application encounters a technical error, the error message and the game mode it happened in are stored locally in localStorage and sent to our analytics provider (see Analytics below) so we can find and fix bugs. Error reports contain no personal information and no camera data.

Payment Information

Optional paid features are processed by Lemon Squeezy. All payment transactions occur on Lemon Squeezy's platform and are governed by their Privacy Policy. We never receive, process, or store credit card numbers or other payment credentials.

Teacher Verification

Teachers may optionally provide a .edu email address to verify eligibility for free educator access. If provided, this email address is stored only in the browser's localStorage on the teacher's device. It is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties.

Analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics that help us improve the games. This includes page views, which games are played, how sessions go (for example scores, level-ups, and whether a game finished or hit an error), and settings changes. It is linked to a random identifier stored in localStorage on the device, not to a name or account.

• Camera images and video are never included.
• Analytics are sent to playhoppo.com and forwarded to PostHog without your IP address.
• IP addresses are excluded from analytics data.
• Session recording and automatic click capture are turned off.

Parent Email (Optional)

A parent or guardian may choose to enter an email address to receive Hoppo beta updates. If provided, that email address is sent to our analytics provider (PostHog) and associated with the device's analytics identifier so we can contact you about the beta. We do not sell or share it. To have it deleted, contact us at hello@playhoppo.com.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Hoppo is designed for children ages 5–8 and is intended to be used under parental or guardian supervision.

• We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information (PII) from children under 13.
• No registration, account creation, or personal information is required to use the application.
• Camera access requires the granting of browser permission, which should be done by a parent or guardian on behalf of a child.
• If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, please contact us immediately at hello@playhoppo.com and we will promptly delete it.

Data Security

All data associated with Hoppo remains on the user's device. Because we operate no servers that store personal data, there are no servers to breach, no databases to expose, and no passwords to steal. The security of locally stored data is governed by the browser's built-in sandboxing and origin isolation.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of Hoppo after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
